About Me
Hi Everyone, I’m Allie! I’m physical therapist assistant, IndyCar fan, and pursuer of health in my own life. I’ve been working in physical therapy for over 9 years and the truth is, I love it!
Why I love physical therapy
My favorite part of working in physical therapy is teaching patients how to start and keep exercising without pain or injury. But pain doesn’t just effect our ability to exercise it can also keep us from important daily tasks like lifting our kids, climbing steps, or even sitting at our desk comfortably.
Physical Therapy and Injuries
Working in physical therapy I’ve learned that reducing pain with daily activities and avoiding injury that keeps you from exercising isn’t that complicated. It just takes a little knowledge and consistent effort. In this blog I share the knowledge I’ve gained working in physical therapy to do just that.
I share things like the most effective stretching exercises to reduce plantar fasciitis, my favorite quad and hamstring strengthening exercises, and strategies to avoid knee pain. I’ll show you how to reduce pain and avoid injury, and how to make these practical steps a consistent part of your life.
Why Habits
I’ve also learned a few things during my own health journey especially about the importance of habit formation and long-term change. Habits consistently guide how we live our lives.
Charles Duhigg said this well.
“Most of the choices we make each day may feel like the products of well-considered decision making, but they’re not. They’re habits. And though each habit means relatively little on its own, over time, the meals we order, what we say to our kids each night, whether we save or spend, how often we exercise…have enormous impacts.”

More than just physical therapy
In addition to working in the clinic and writing this blog, I also enjoy running, lifting weights, and taking walks outside. In the summer you’ll often find me at IndyCar races where my husband works as a racing engineer.
